The Baltic Sea is frequently visited by Dutch sailors. And not without reason.
There is little difference in tides and currents less than the North Sea. The summer weather is very pleasant
and a large number of attractions must be seen.
Countries like Poland, the Baltic States, Finland and Russia, are not that numerous countries visited.
The Baltic Sea is achieved through the Kiel Canal.
It begins at Brunsbüttel and ends nearly 100 km further at the Kiel site.
The first part of the canal from Brunsbüttel is industrial, but later changed the landscape in a wooded area.
High bridges (35 mtr.) connecting the banks together and there are several appropriate overnight spots.
En route you will meet many fellow sailors, but also large ocean liners.
On the final point you leave the channel via large sea locks and get in the Kieler Fjord.
Here really starts your holiday in the Baltic Sea.
You will find brilliant sail in the Baltic waters, numerous islands, beautiful beaches and interesting coastal towns. Everywhere there are well-equipped marinas, but also anchoring is possible.

This island is located oposite Heiligenhafen and it is a good starting point for sailing trips to the North Coast of Germany and Poland. But you can also sail from Fehmarn to the Danish Islands.
The Baltic has a mild maritime climate. In summer, temperatures in the Baltic Sea can be high. From June 11 to July 2 in the northern Baltic Sea during the night never really dark.
This night is called the "White Nights" or "Beliye Nochi". During the White Nights, the temperature can be about
20ºC.
Finland has a temperate climate. The average temperature in Helsinki in July varies between 23ºC at noon and 16ºC by morning. In summer there are 30ºC.
The summers in Finland are mainly in the central and south generally dry and sunny.
Between May and September in Helsinki is typically only 3-6 days per month precipitation. The northern location, the summer night hardly dark.
